Kristen Cox, Maryland State Secretary of Disabilities, visited the Jane Salzano Center for Autism on Thursday, August 24th. Executive Director, Ian Paregol said, “Ms. Cox was eager to learn about CSAAC’s challenges concerning direct care staff wages, providing community supports for individuals with autism and other issues we face involving service delivery. She asked excellent questions indicative of a professional that understands what it takes to empower people with disabilities so that they can achieve their personal and professional goals.” Ms. Cox also toured our Community School of Maryland, Brookeville Campus site, visiting classrooms and meeting students. Director of Education, Brenda Thiam, presented Ms. Cox with a t-shirt decorated by students in honor of her visit. CSAAC appreciates her demonstration of interest and thanks her for taking the time to visit and learn more about our work.
