On Saturday, June 30, 2007, CSAAC children, adults, family members and staff enjoyed a beautiful day at our Brookeville Campus for the CSAAC Annual Picnic.  The CSAAC Diversity Committee planned, organized and hosted the picnic.  Students and families from the Intensive Early Intervention (IEI) program kicked things off with children’s activities, including a moon-bounce, face painting, arts and crafts, interactive games, a ball pit, and balloons.  The IEI Team, including volunteers from UMBC’s Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority and family member volunteers made certain that the morning was filled with fun activities and Opportunities for social interaction.  The Brookeville Campus was decorated with flags from around the world.   This year, the picnic featured live entertainment.  The CSAAC employee band, Random Ax of Diversity (www.chapterseven.org) , gave a live performance.  The Upper County Steppers (www.uppercountysteppers.org) performed a multicultural dance routine while educating everyone with the history and art of stepping.  A fabulous barbecue was prepared by Continental Caterers, along with handmade pizza from Armand’s Pizzeria.  CSAAC even provided an ice-cream truck serving frozen treats for dessert.  There were several raffle drawings throughout the picnic with prizes donated from many of CSAAC’s supported employment partners, such as Applebee’s, Armands Pizza, Bennigans, Loews Theatre, Mama Lucia Restaurant, Red Lobster, TGIF and WAL-MART.  The event was MC’d by our own Jerry Tarway, Employment Manager.  Raffle Prizes were obtained by CSAAC’s Assistant Director for Competitive Employment, John Solyst.  We would like to extend our deepest appreciation and sincere gratitude to our 2007 picnic sponsors:  Amerigroup (www.amerigroupcorp.com), Mid Atlantic Federal Credit Union (www.mafcu.org) and the Meltzer Group (www.meltzer.com).
